Daily Office
disciple. A student or follower; one who follows Christ Jesus and His teachings
Divine Service. The name of the regular weekly service that includes the celebration of the Lord’s Supper; derived from the German Gottesdienst.
deaconess A woman who is usually a full-time church worker; she serves the people of a congregation or institution in many different ways—arranging Bible studies for adults and children, visiting the sick or elderly, doing youth work, and performing other acts of mercy and service.
deacons A man who may or may not be a full-time church worker; he takes care of practical tasks for the pastor. They supplied the needs of the poor, the widows, and the ill within the congregation.
devotion Personal worship.
disciple A person who follows Jesus by studying and believing His Word; a believer in Jesus who trusts in His Word.
divine Being or having the nature of God.
divine nature of Christ The nature of Christ that shows He is true God, begotten from the Father from all eternity.
doctrine A belief or set of beliefs that is taught.
doxology. From the Greek for “words of praise”; a short ascription of praise to the Triune God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
