Magnificat To glorify; Mary’s song that praises the Lord for His exalting of the poor and humble. It is part of the Church’s liturgy that is used today.

martyr. From the Greek word for “witness”; someone who voluntarily suffers the penalty of death for witnessing about the Savior.

Matins The historic Morning Prayer of the Christian Church.

means of grace The means by which the Holy Spirit offers us all the blessings of Christ and creates faith in us; the written and spoken Word of God and the Sacraments (Baptism and Holy Communion) are the means of grace.
